Two Heads are Better Than One

Although you are 1 in a million, no man is an island. In this new year, don’t try to do things on your own. Two heads are better than one, especially when one head belongs to the God of the universe. You need His; He doesn’t need yours, but He’s given you the privilege to work with Him.

It takes two…you and God to have ultimate victory over the challenges of our world.  In 2017, a partnership with God will produce passion and purpose in your life. Don’t ever think that you can do it alone. God wants to  partner with you as He works in your life to fulfill His purpose. God gave you one heart, one body and one mind to make you special. However, things to do with the senses come in twos. He gave you two eyes, two ears, two hands, two nostrils, two lips…and two feet. Why? There is much work to be done for the kingdom. Your senses bring awareness, don’t they? You need two eyes to fully see the needs of people all around you, two ears to listen keenly to others and two hands and feet to join with others in the great work of the gospel.

We need God, but we also need people. While one is the precursor for first, two is a requirement for for pairs. Find those who are focused, purposeful and link up with groups who are willing to work, pray and bring about change. As much as oneness represents unity, it takes two to make the union.  There will be no unity in your life working by yourself, on your own terms, doing your own thing. Work in harmony with God and in partnership with others.

Yes, two makes a union, but there also has to be two things to make opposites. Accordingly, your differences should make you shine, not stand out.  Black needs white to show up its blackness and white needs black to show up its whiteness. That’s why black and white together create a striking image, but they also show the outstanding characteristics of each. Don’t overlook the fact that black will not try to be white and white will not try to be black, because they are different colors. However, they do meet each other half way sometimes and become grey.

Therefore, the things that make you different when you stand next to someone else, are the things that make you special…treasure them. In the same breath, if they make you stand out, they could just be the things that you need to work on and improve in your life…work on them. Meet others halfway; being different doesn’t mean that you have to stand out, but it means you should shine. God wants us to shine but not try to outshine others. Heaven is for ALL of us.

Notwithstanding, when it comes to the number two, here is a word or two of caution. There are two deaths, makes sure that you die only once. There will be two resurrections, with God’s help, make sure that you are in the first. There are no two ways about salvation, Jesus is the only way. There are two roads, the broad and the narrow, only one leads to heaven. There are two forces in this world, good and evil, eventually you will have to surrender to one force and stick with it. Luke 16: 13 says, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.”

Nevertheless, some of the most beautiful things in life come in two’s, sunrise and sunsets, twins, bread and butter, male and female, or even a pair of shoes.

Speaking of shoes, go out into the world and stand on your own two feet; learn from your mistakes and grow with God at your side.

Two brings connectivity. Live a life of hopeFULness, because God promises to lead the way if we ask. Connect one end of a cord to the wall, without having another place to connect the other end is senseless.  Stretch your hands up to heaven and hang on to God who is stretching His hands down to earth…connect with God.

Although you are one in a million, we are also two of a kind. God gave us similarities so that we can blossom together.  The goodness you see in others can also be found in you…if you let it. Sadly, the evil you see in others, can also come from you…if you let it. Don’t be condemning of others. Jesus came to give us power over evil. Through His Spirit, work diligently to let the goodness outshine the bad.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, keep that in mind as you try to forgive as much as you can in 2017. After all it takes two to tango, but it also takes two to dance a beautiful waltz.

Now, if you are trying your best to live up to God’s standards, look out for others, and live out your life’s purpose…that makes two of us. Stick with it, and lean on God for two heads are better than one.

Ecclesiastes 4: 9 – 11, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?”
