Day 5: You are Centuries Older Than you Think

Certificate

So, how old are you? Your actual age depends on who is counting and the instrument being used to count. Let us pretend that you are 40 years old. If we measure your age in centuries, you are only 0.4 centuries old. If we measure your age in decades, you are only 4 decades old. If we measure your age according to Bible prophecy, you are only 40 days old (a day is a year). However, if we measure your age in thought—well—the thought of you was born before the inauguration of world.

Many people do not like to hear that they are old. But, take note of this little truth: you are centuries older than you think. The perfect thought of you is an epoch, thought out before the foundation of the world.

Let us follow the principle. A designer first thinks his thoughts before he executes them into reality. How long does it take for a designer to unveil his design? Well, it all depends on the designer and on the value of his design. If the design is extremely valuable, the designer will wait for the perfect timing.  A thought is like a seed. The seed sits around until the farmer is ready to plant. However, the tree cannot begin to grow until the farmer actually plants the seed. In order to obtain successful outcomes, the farmer chooses the right time to plant. Timing is based on the soil, the season, the purpose and the type of seed itself. Therefore, like that apple seed, life waits in the barn. When the soil and the season, is ready, God plants. And when He plants, His timing is impeccable!

I have always wondered why David said, “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!”  Eventually, I figured it out: God has been continuously thinking about us before the foundation of the world. That is a lot of thinking. Have you ever had something on your mind and just cannot get it out of your head? Imagine that…God has been doing all this infinite thinking and planning for our lives. Then He chose the perfect time to bring us into the word. After we are finally born, we grow up, turn to God and say, “Scratch out all that infinite thinking, I got my own plans.”

That is insulting!

Thankfully, God is not thin skinned.  He is not petty. He is powerful and patient. He often sits back and let us dig our pits of failure. When our plans fail, He rescues us. The same pit that we dig with our faulty plans, is the same one He uses to lay the foundation for His monument of grace. Once we repent, He sets us tall upon the monument. Despite our failures, once He establishes us again, no man can pull us down.

Life may have led you down unintended paths and unexpected journeys, but as long as you are alive, there is still time to fulfill purpose and the perfect thought. I can tell you with confidence that you are still here today because of purpose and perfection. God’s been thinking about you for centuries now. In all that infinite thinking,  we are sure He has a means to get you out the pit, if you are in one. He has a means to supply our needs and fulfill your desires, according to His will. Just ask and keep asking Him to lead the way. Just pray “Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path.” If you do not ask, it is like taking all of the sand on the sea and dumping it in the trash. What a waste!

You are centuries older than you think because, there can be no rush on perfection. Thought and timing are God’s specialties. Athletes cannot rush perfection in sports. Musicians cannot rush perfection in music. Engineers cannot rush perfection in construction. Your Designer, God, will not rush perfection in you. First, He thought about you and brought you forth at the right time. Then, He wants to fulfill His purpose in you, if you will allow Him. Thirdly, He wants to perfect you. The journey to perfection is a singular path, only you and God can travel. No one else can fit, even if you give them a back ride. What happens on the journey depends on you. God already knows what He wants, He has been thinking about you for centuries now. What do you want?

Time is a fortune; grab on to it and do not let it go to waste. If you can, let your mind wander back to that first thought centuries ago, when your Designer called your name. I know He had to have something special in mind. That something, may bring poverty, riches, sickness, pain, success, separation, disgrace, imprisonment, but He is God, and He knows the right something that you need for perfection.

No matter who is counting or whatever instrument is been used to count, your current age is ideal for you. Right now, you may be in the prime of your youth or entering the golden age of wisdom, but be proud. God has been thinking about you a long time ago. If He had you on His mind all this time, it had to be really, really important. You are centuries older than you think…and someone your age, must be emphatically special.

Ephesians 1: 4-5: “Before the creation of the world, He chose us through Christ to be holy and perfect in His presence.”
